Postdoctoral Fellow position in spatial bioinformatic analysis of cancer development

The research group of Staffan Strömblad at the Department of Medicine-Huddinge, Karolinska Institutet (KI), seeks a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a collaborative project. The Strömblad lab investigates the nature of cell-matrix interactions in cancer and how these interactions influence key cellular functions, including cellular senescence, cell proliferation and migration (e.g., Göransson et al. Matrix biology 2025;Hu et al., Science Advances 2022; Costa et al., Nature Communications 2019; Lock et al., Nature Cell Biology 2018). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work at the interface of bioinformatics, cancer biology and tissue mechanics in a creative and collaborative research environment to analyze unique spatial data in an innovative manner. You will develop and perform cutting-edge bioinformatic analysis integrating different multiplexed spatial data, and gain a deep understanding of cancer biology and tissue mechanics. You will get the opportunity to encounter and interact within a vibrant department hosting a broad range of medical research. The Strömblad lab actively collaborate with research groups within the department, within other parts of KI, as well as nationally and internationally, and participate in research networks such as the Breast Cancer Theme Center (BRECT) at KI and Cancer Research KI. Your mission You will work together with cancer biologists in the Strömblad lab to unravel how the tissue mechanical properties affects cancer development, and how this is controlled at the cellular and molecular levels. We are currently producing snRNA-seq and Stereo-Seq data from two mouse lung cancer models. You will take the responsibility for the bioinformatic analysis of these data to integrate the two data types to produce a spatial deep expression map at cellular resolution. The spatial expression data will then be overlayed with images of the extracellular matrix organization and segmented tumor lesions with tumor grade annotations. You will spatially integrate these highly multiplexed data to identify tissue nisches and reveal their specific cell compositions and gene expression patterns. Your profile The candidate must have an extensive experience in performing bioinformatic analyses in an independent manner. Experience with snRNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics, and with spatial analysis including integration of different data types constitute strong merits, as well as experience in cancer biology. Postdoctoral Fellow position in Viral Proteomics

Our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations. The Division of Virology and Immunology at MTC comprises ten research groups working on aspects of molecular virology, viral immunity, T- and B-cell biology and vaccine responses to complex antigens. We share a well-equipped laboratory space in the Biomedicum building with access to state-of-the-art microscopy, flow cytometry and protein science facilities and to a well-equipped BSL3 laboratory. A postdoctoral position is available in Prof Gerald McInerney’s research group. The laboratory focuses on the cell biology of virus infection, with a particular interest in alphaviruses, including chikungunya virus. We have a wide network of collaboration partners in virology, immunology, vaccinology, structural biology and biophysics, computational biology, and other fields of interest. Postdoctoral Fellow position on Extrahepatic delivery of RNA therapeutics

The department is involved in advanced basic scientific, clinical and epidemiological research. The department is one of the largest departments of education at Karolinska Institutet. Division The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions that conduct both research and teaching. The department is involved in advanced research, encompassing both basic and applied research. All divisions operate in close collaboration with clinicians at the Karolinska University Hospital. The Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM) focuses on the use of modified biomolecules, cells, and cell products as new therapeutic agents, as well as the identification and study of suitable biomolecular and cellular targets for therapy and diagnostics. The division is also connected to the Karolinska ATMP Center. Our research efforts in the EL Andaloussi lab focus on one of the greatest challenges facing modern therapeutics; the delivery of macromolecules to target cells in vivo. Despite the unprecedented knowledge of diseases and their mechanisms due to advances in biomedical sciences; many promising therapeutic approaches are still clinically unavailable. This is simply because there is no efficient means of delivering these therapeutics to the right organ with the right dose. Our research performance involves developing novel and innovative drug delivery technologies that can carry proteins, RNAs, or gene editors to the target tissues safely and efficiently. One of the delivery modalities that we exploit is extracellular vesicles (EVs); natural nanoparticles that are able to convey genetic material from one cell to another. We have developed a range of genetic engineering strategies to modify EVs for the purpose of drug delivery. In addition to EVs, the EL Andaloussi lab also engineers various conjugates for extrahepatic delivery of oligonucleotide-based therapeutics. This is achieved either through bioconjugation of small molecular ligands or larger biologics such as nanobodies or antibodies. This project aims to develop novel bioconjugates for organ-targeted delivery of oligonucleotides and to uncover the molecular determinants of tissue and cell tropism. Duties As a postdoctoral researcher with scholarship, you will work closely with other team members to design and implement strategies for the targeted delivery of various oligonucleotide cargoes (e.g., ASOs, siRNAs). A central aspect of the role involves evaluating different targeting ligands and conjugation chemistries to develop RNA conjugates capable of reaching specific organs and tissues following in vivo delivery. You will also develop and optimize methods to assess the activity of these conjugates, examining how their physicochemical properties influence systemic distribution and performance. Ultimately, the rational design of conjugates will be correlated with their targeting and delivery efficiency in both in vitro and in vivo models using relevant cell systems and animal studies. Proven track record in evaluating biodistribution of oligonucleotide-based modalities in mouse models. Preferred but not required: Experience with toxicity studies and in vivo imaging (e.g., IVIS, bioluminescence, fluorescence). Molecular and cellular biology expertise: Proficiency in mammalian cell culture and transient transfections. Expertise in quantitative assays to evaluate the outcome of in vitro and in vivo studies related to oligonucleotide delivery, such as gene expression analysis (RT-qPCR) or oligonucleotide detection methods (e.g., dPCR, SplintR). Preferred but not required: Experience with flow cytometry for tissue/cell uptake analysis, single-cell sorting, and RNA sequencing. Postdoctoral Fellow position on Bruton’s Tyrosin Kinase – from inhibitors to gene correction

Do you want to contribute to improving human health? This postdoc position will offer the opportunity to join a translational research team to work on aspects of Bruton’s Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) ranging from the use of BTK inhibitors for treatment of lymphoid malignancies to curative gene correction in immunodeficiency patients. The postdoc will work in the interphase between Associate professor Robert Månsson and Professor Edvard Smith’s groups at Karolinska Institutet and Clinical teams at Karolinska University Hospital. The successful candidate will join our team at the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Karolinska Institutet. Duties The postdoc position will be within a translational research constellation study aspects of  Bruton’s Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) biology ranging from understanding thein vivoeffects and efficacy of BTK inhibitors in patients with lymphoid malignancies, to the BTK inhibitor effects on the tumour microenvironment in model organisms, and the curative gene correction of immunodeficiency patients carrying mutations in the BTK gene. The candidate is expected to participate in experimental design, logistics, sample processing, experimentation, data analysis, documentation, presentation and publication of results. The candidate is expected to work as a bridge between the groups in the translational research constellation. In addition, the candidate is expected to join research-related activities such as group meetings, departmental seminars, national/international meetings, as well as take part in routine work within our research team and help supervise students within the group. Entry requirements We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong desire to pursue translational research focused on Bruton’s Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) central role in the treatment of lymphoid malignancies using BTK inhibitors and taking steps towards curative gene correction in immunodeficiency patients. The candidate applying must have a PhD degree in biomedicine, molecular medicine, molecular biology, gene technology, immunology, stem cell biology or a related discipline. Expertise in experimental haematology, transplantation models, advanced flow cytometry, sequencing based molecular biology (“omics”) and/or bioinformatics is required to become a successful candidate. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and compatibility with lab members and the overall research team. Applicants must have good communication skills in English, be able to drive his/her own project and work within a research team. Postdoctoral scholarships may be established for foreign researchers who pursue their merit in Sweden. Research assistant position in novel therapies for metastatic gastric cancer

This ongoing translational research collaboration aims to develop and implement innovative treatments for gastric and esophageal cancer. The research assistant we are seeking will work in the Ponzetta Team lab at CIM, offering an engaging research environment where you may contribute to high quality research at international level. The project will build on samples collected within the recently initiated IPaGastric trial to investigate immune variation during therapy and its relationship to treatment outcomes. Using state-of-the-art technologies, including high-dimensional flow cytometry, single-cell transcriptomics and proteomics, the project aims to advance our understanding of antitumour immune responses and identify biomarkers for improved patient stratification and treatment efficacy.
