Terms & conditions The applicant must be a citizen of India. The minimum age under Project Associate and Field Assistant categories will be 21 years and maximum 45 years. The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved category candidates as per Govt. of India norms. The engagement is purely on temporary basis and is initially for a period of 11 months or may be extended/curtailed subject to the availability of fund or termination of the project. However, depending on the unsatisfactory progress, the engagement can be terminated at any time by issuing one month notice. The candidate applying for the post will have no claim for their regularization as the posts are purely temporary and their engagement can be terminated at any time, if not required in the project. The candidate has to sign engagement contract agreement on stamp paper at the time of joining and the engagement contract agreement shall be renewed on yearly and performance basis. The selected candidate, who wishes to tender his/her resignation during the period of engagement shall be required one month’s notice prior to resignation or to deposit one month’s salary. Applicants already working in any project should send their application through proper channel. No separate letter for interview will be issued and the candidate will have to appear for interview at their own expenses on the date of interview. The Institute’s research areas include the development of intervention measures against various infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance in livestock farming, questions concerning the transmission, introduction, and survival of pathogens from livestock farming in the environment, and questions concerning disinfection in animal housing, veterinary clinics, and practices Job description: Working on the topic: “Environmental and water pathways of Campylobacter in poultry farming” (sub-project within the NICE joint project – Niche of Campylobacter in the water environment). Within the framework of an interdisciplinary collaborative research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Community (BMLEH), the aquatic habitat in and around broiler farms will be systematically investigated as a potential source of introduction, survival, and transmission of Campylobacter spp. – including viable but non-culturable (VBNC) stages. The aim is to better understand and scientifically describe key transmission pathways of the pathogen in broiler chicken and duck farming operations in order to identify starting points for preventive measures. The investigations include systematic sampling in animal housing and their surroundings, focusing on the various water sources. Dual diagnostics are employed, combining classical culture and real-time PCR, supplemented by whole-genome sequence-based analyses. Based on these findings, critical control points for future, practically relevant prevention and risk minimization strategies in poultry farming will be derived. It is possible to obtain a doctorate on the specified topic (Dr. med. vet. or PhD).
