The position is to be filled in the Department of Biology at the Chair of Biophysics & Structural Biology held by Prof. Dr. Olga Mayans. https://www.biologie.uni-konstanz.de/mayans/ .
Our laboratory investigates how the structure of biomolecules—especially proteins—determines their biological function within the cell. To this end, we elucidate the three-dimensional structure of biomolecules using X-ray crystallography. We carry out all steps of this research, from molecular biology and biochemical methods to X-ray diffraction of samples and the graphical processing of computational models.

Your tasks

- Laboratory organization, maintenance and stockpiling
- Management of consumables, plasmids and bacterial strains
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Application of gene cloning, site-directed mutagenesis and general molecular biological methods
- Application of general biochemical laboratory procedures for the recombinant overexpression of proteins in bacterial cultures
- Training of young researchers and participation in research and teaching
Your profile
-
- Training as a Technical Assistant or a suitable qualification of at least equivalent value.
- Experience with molecular biological and biochemical methods related to proteins
- Familiarity with the specific requirements of a structural biology laboratory
- Organizational skills and teamwork skills
- Willingness to plan independently

- Knowledge of standard laboratory computer programs and laboratory data processing and documentation
