Junior Research Fellow and Project Assistant position for a project titled- “Biotransformation of Complex Seaweed Polysaccharides into Digestible Functional Carbohydrates through Microbial Fermentation for Sustainable Marine Aquafeed Development”

Position Summary

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Kochi, has invited applications for interview for selection of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Assistant, scheduled on 03.07.2026 (10:00 hrs) at the Marine Biotechnology, Fish Nutrition and Health Division, ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi, under the DBT-funded project “Biotransformation of Complex Seaweed Polysaccharides into Digestible Functional Carbohydrates through Microbial Fermentation for Sustainable Marine Aquafeed Development” under the BioE3 – Futuristic Marine Research Programme.

For JRF (01 post), essential qualification is a Master’s degree in Biotechnology/Nutrition/Biochemistry/Bioinformatics or relevant branches of Fisheries/Agricultural/Veterinary/Basic Sciences with NET/GATE or equivalent national-level qualification; desirable experience includes microbial fermentation, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, qPCR analysis, and data handling. Emoluments are Rs. 37,000/- per month plus HRA as per Central Government rates applicable in Kochi.

For Project Assistant (01 post), essential qualification is a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Life Sciences or related disciplines; desirable experience includes laboratory work, sample processing, biochemical analysis, and computer applications. Emoluments are Rs. 24,000/- per month (consolidated).

For both posts, age limit is minimum 21 and maximum 45 years (with age relaxation for OBC/SC/ST as per GOI norms), and the position is purely temporary, co-terminus with the project.
