The Department of Biology at the University of Konstanz is seeking to fill a full-time position for a Technical Assistant. We are looking for a highly motivated, independent, and responsible individual who is communicative, flexible, resilient, and a team player. The ongoing work at the chair involves molecular biological, biochemical, cell biological, and physiological analyses of plant development. The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical support for all laboratory tasks, including the cultivation of plant cell cultures and the maintenance and upkeep of the existing equipment.

Your tasks

    • Preparation of sterile plant cultures
    • Nucleic acid preparation, PCR, qRT-PCR, primer design, cloning
    • Protein isolation, SDS-PAGE and Western blots
    • Microscopy (epifluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, electron microscopy)
    • Preparing chemicals, buffers and the production of various culture media
    • General laboratory management and quality control, ordering
    • Documentation, archiving and storage of scientific data

Your profile

    • Training as a Technical Assistant (MTA/BTA) or a comparable qualification
    • Experience in the field of molecular biological and biochemical techniques
    • Experiences with fluorescence microscopy
    • Experience with confocal microscopy and/or electron microscopy is advantageous.
    • Confident use of common standard computer programs
    • Organizational skills, reliability, sense of responsibility
    • Independent working style and the ability to carry out joint projects with scientists and students
