Project Research Scientist-II (Non- Medical) position under the project Development and validation of CRISPR-Cas integrated Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification diagnostic test of the rapid detection of antibiotic – resistant Klebsiella Pneumoniae

Position Summary

ICMR-National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), Jodhpur, has issued a Notification for Walk-in-Interview/Written Test for a temporary Project Human Resource position under the project “Development and validation of CRISPR-Cas integrated Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification diagnostic test for the rapid detection of antibiotic-resistant Klebsiella Pneumoniae.”

Position: Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical)

Vacancy: 1 position (UR/Unreserved).

Essential Qualifications: A Post Graduate Degree in Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Biomedical Sciences/Genetics/Life Sciences with three years of post-qualification experience in the relevant subject, OR a Post Graduate Degree in the same disciplines with a Ph.D. in the relevant subject.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in Klebsiella pneumoniae diagnostics and CRISPR-Cas diagnostic technology; hands-on experience with antimicrobial resistance studies, particularly in Klebsiella pneumoniae and other Gram-negative bacteria, and bacterial resistance profiling; knowledge of diagnostic platform development (point-of-care/low-cost systems); proficiency in molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, multiplex PCR, LAMP, gel electrophoresis, sequencing) and bioinformatics tools for genome analysis; and strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Age Limit: Not exceeding 40 years on the date of the walk-in interview/written test.

Remuneration: Rs. 67,000/- + HRA per month (consolidated).

Tenure: Initially up to one year, extendable up to project completion; the position is terminable at any point in time.

Place of Work: ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur, or anywhere in India as per project requirements.

Selection Process: If more than 30 candidates apply, a written test will be conducted (qualifying marks: 35% for SC/ST, 40% for UR/OBC/EWS), followed by interviews for shortlisted candidates (generally top 5 for this position).

Key Terms and Conditions: Purely temporary with no claim to regular ICMR appointment. Candidates with over 3 years of prior ICMR project service are ineligible. Employed candidates must submit an NOC. Minimum one-month service required; engagement terminable with one month’s notice from either side. No TA/DA, PF, LTC, or medical benefits provided.
