Your tasks
This DFG-funded project focuses on the genetic and functional characterization of virulence factors of the gastrointestinal bacterium Helicobacter pylori from the Iceman “Ötzi.” The project involves generating gene sequences of virulence factors from Ötzi’s H. pylori genome and introducing these sequences into modern laboratory strains. These ancient virulence factors will then be investigated in detailed functional analyses of pathogen-host interactions. The project also includes supporting student internships.
