Job Description: The Postdoctoral Scholar will be supervised by Dr. Miranda Fidler-Benaoudia and will undertake population health and health systems research related to survivors of pediatric (0-14 year-olds) and/or adolescent and young adult (AYA; 15-39 year-olds) cancer. The successful candidate will work on a variety of cancer epidemiologic research studies that utilize registry, administrative health (Discharge Abstract Database, National Ambulatory Care Reporting System, and Practitioner Claims), and questionnaire (e.g. patient-reported outcomes, risk factor assessment) data. Immediate research projects include the investigation of: (i) chronic health condition risks; (ii) follow-up care and guideline adherence; (iii) healthcare utilization, (iv) palliative and end-of-life care and assisted death; and (v) cancer prevention at young ages. Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scholar with a background in cognitive neuroscience and an interest in studying human cognition using intracranial recordings. The scholar will work closely with Dr. Fady Girgis, MD in the division of neurosurgery and Dr. Julia Kam, PhD in the department of psychology. This is a collaborative environment within the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. The scholar will work in an interdisciplinary environment with a team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, and cognitive neuroscientists on several funded projects that aim to discover the neurophysiological basis of various cognitive constructs, using intracranial EEG, single unit recordings, machine learning and potentially stimulation approaches. Their primary role will involve executing the funded projects (i.e. acquisition of intracranial EEG and single-unit recordings from surgical patients, analysis of intracranial neurophysiology data, development of analytic tools, scientific dissemination). With access to state-of-the-art neuroimaging facilities and academic resources at the Cumming School of Medicine, the Psychology department, and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, the fellow will also have the opportunity to pursue collaborative and self-directed projects beyond the funded research. The lab¿s mission is to deepen our knowledge of the neural underpinnings of various cognitive constructs including theory of mind, non-literal language, and mind wandering, using a multi-modal approach that combines behavioral and eye tracking methods with intracranial EEG and single-unit neural recordings. Description The Department of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Science invites applications for a Research Associate. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. The Research Associate will report directly to the PI, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, and will play a central role in advancing research on wildlife movement, resource selection, monitoring, inventory, and conservation. This is a full-time position primarily focused on data analysis, spatial modeling, and collaborative research coordination. Most work will be computer-based, though periodic travel, including weekends, may be required to conduct field work, meet with government and NGO partners, or to participate in workshops and conferences. The position requires strong analytical ability, independence, and the capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment. Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Lead the design, coordination, and analysis of multi-institutional wildlife research projects. Conduct quantitative and spatial analyses of wildlife movement and habitat-use data to identify ecological patterns and management implications. Evaluate and compare monitoring approaches (e.g., aerial surveys, remote sensing, community-based monitoring), identifying innovative tools and technologies to improve efficiency and data quality. Demonstrated expertise in spatial ecology and movement data analysis, including experience with GPS telemetry, camera trap data, or similar large ecological datasets. Proficiency in advanced statistical modeling and spatial analysis, including R, GIS platforms, and (ideally) remote sensing tools. Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals relevant to wildlife ecology, conservation, or monitoring. Proven ability to lead and mentor research teams, including students and technical staff. Experience working with a broad range of collaborators, including government, NGOs, and Indigenous partners, with demonstrated ability to communicate across disciplines and knowledge systems.
