The position The position primarily involves research on inflammatory kidney diseases and mechanisms that may be essential to the pathogenesis of these conditions. You will be analysing various substances in peripheral blood, such as cytokines and DNA, as well as isolating and culturing cells in vitro to study immune cell functions. Your work will include analysing and presenting experimental results, handling clinical data, and contributing to manuscript writing. As a principal research engineer, your main duties will consist of conducting research, with opportunities to develop your own research projects. The following education, experience and expertise are required: A completed PhD in biomedicine, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree in a relevant field. Comprehensive knowledge of immunology, biomedicine, and experience of working with human immune cells. Proficiency in, and ability to establish, techniques such as ELISA, flow cytometry, cell culture, cell isolation, immunofluorescence microscopy, and PCR. Position of Researcher in CNS tumour epigenetics

The group focuses on DNA methylation profiling and cancer stem cell models derived from patient tumour tissue, integrating state-of-the-art experimental and bioinformatic methodologies to improve diagnostics and develop prognostic tools. Collaborations with Sahlgrenska University Hospital pathologists, neurosurgeons, and oncologists underpin the group’s strong translational research mission. Duties We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to contribute to experimental and analytical projects in CNS tumour epigenetics. The position involves both hands-on laboratory work and computational analysis, with the overall aim of refining tumour classification and identifying epigenetic drivers of tumorigenesis. Responsibilities include: Planning and execution of experiments in DNA methylation analysis and nanopore sequencing, including laboratory methods, data analysis, and integration of results into diagnostic and mechanistic studies. Handling and processing of patient-derived biological materials, such as tumor tissue, single-cell preparations, and blood samples. Culture and maintenance of primary cells, including cancer stem cell populations derived from CNS tumors. Use of a broad range of molecular biology and cell biology techniques to support the group’s experimental work. Contributing to bioinformatic analysis pipelines and/or independent research projects. Administrative responsibility for the group’s daily operations, including procurement, coordination of practical workflows, and oversight of the group’s ongoing operational needs. Supervision of students and/or junior colleagues as needed. Qualifications Required qualifications PhD in a relevant discipline. Documented expertise in methylation arrays and nanopore sequencing, encompassing both experimental and computational workflows. Proven experience with patient-derived materials, including tumour tissue, single-cell preparations, and peripheral blood. Strong background in primary cell culture, with particular experience in handling patient-derived cells. Excellent written and spoken English, along with the ability to work effectively in an international research environment. Proficiency in Swedish is also required, as the role entails collaboration and regular interaction with clinicians. Position of Research Specialist in Human Microbiome Research with Bioinformatics competence

The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer.  Our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations. Description of the subject area The multidisciplinary team of Cultureomics builds on a deep understanding of translational microbiome research and has established a broad technical, biological, clinical and epidemiological platform for studying complex microbiological communities in well-defined human materials. The group aims to better understand the contribution of the human microbiome to physiology and pathophysiology with the goal to open opportunities for development of novel therapies in the field of women’s health, reproductive health and neonatology. Your mission As a Research Specialist in microbiome bioinformatics and computational analysis, you will lead the design and execution of advanced analytical strategies for complex, heterogeneous datasets across multiple projects investigating the role of the microbiome in human health and disease. A central component of the role is to assume substantial responsibility for assigned studies, including the development of analysis plans that integrate metagenomics data with complex and heterogeneous metadata such as  clinical variables, questionnaires, and registry data. The role requires working with real-world datasets that may be incomplete, noisy, and longitudinal in nature, and therefore demands critical evaluation of data quality, appropriate preprocessing, and careful consideration of confounding and bias. Analysis work will be performed in close collaboration with colleagues at Karolinska and external research partners, with the goal of generating high-quality scientific publications. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to analytical strategy, interpretation of results, and scientific writing. The position involves close collaboration with multiple teams, including clinical epidemiology, bioinformatics, and wet lab groups, as well as external clinical collaborators. Bukhman Professorship of Type 1 Diabetes

The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint to the Bukhman Professor of Type 1 Diabetes, a highly prestigious position within the Radcliffe Department of Medicine. Funded by a generous donation from the Bukhman Foundation, as part of a wider centre for research excellence in type 1 diabetes, the Bukhman Professor of Type 1 Diabetes will perform world-leading research that will help people with type 1 diabetes live a normal healthy life free of the burden of managing their blood glucose levels.  This post is available as either a clinical or a non-clinical position. Senior Clinical Scientist

About the job: The purpose of the post is to provide clinical diagnostic expertise for the Genomics section of the Precision Medicine Centre of Excellence. The post holder is expected to assist the clinical genomics area of the laboratory in the development, validation and reporting of molecular pathology investigations, including the design and implementation of clinical genomics protocols for precision cancer medicine in haematological and solid tumours. To assist with day-to-day planning and coordination of reporting activities, quality management and training. Analysing and interpreting large amounts of biological, clinical and scientific data, including genomics and transcriptomics providing timely and accurate feedback in close collaboration with the Genomics Lead and bioinformatics team.
