Senior Research Fellow/Young Professional II
Number of Posts
- One post (Only one position will be filled under this advertisement, either as Senior Research Fellow or Young Professional-II, depending on the qualifications and suitability of the candidates. The total number of vacancies may vary depending on other project requirements, if any, on the date of interview.)
Salary
- For Senior Research Fellow: Rs. 37,000/- per month + HRA as applicable (for the 1st and 2nd year), Rs. 42,000/- per month + HRA as applicable (for the 3rd year)
- For Young Professional II: Rs. 42,000/- per month (Consolidated Emoluments as per revised ICAR guidelines)
Location
- ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi (but may have to move based on the need of the Project)
Eligibility
- For Senior Research Fellow: Master’s degree with at least 60% marks in Marine Science/Zoology/Mariculture/Fisheries Science/ Life Sciences/Zoology/Marine Biology. He/She should have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualifications. OR Candidates with 3 years Bachelor’s + 2 years Master’s degree in the above and should have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualifications and 2 years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/Associateship/Training/other engagements.
- For Young Professional II: Postgraduate in Marine Science/Zoology/Mariculture/Fisheries Science/ Life Sciences/Oceanography/Zoology/Marine Biology or equivalent in relevant field.
Requirements
- Project: MOES funded Project under DOM Vertical III “Automated Identification of Marine Species with Artificial Neural Networks to Enhance the Exploration and Sustainable Utilization of Deep-sea Marine Fishes.”
- Working experience in Marine fishery identification
- Working experience in Database management systems
- Preference will be given to those with CSIR/UGC/any fellowship
- Skill in swimming
- Candidate should be ready to work on board vessels for multiday sampling
- Nature and duration of the post: Purely on contract basis for a period of one year from the date of joining or till the completion of the project, whichever is earlier. The selected candidates shall not claim for any regular appointments at this institute.
Age Limit
- The minimum age is 21 years, and maximum age is 45 years (with relaxation as per rules) as on the date of the interview.

- Candidates whose relative(s) is an employee of ICAR/CMFRI must declare his/her name, designation, nature of duties, and relationship in writing (as detailed in Annexure-I/II) and communicate it on or before 5 August 2026. Other candidates will furnish this declaration at the time of interview.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be intimated via e-mail. Only those candidates who receive official communication will be permitted to appear for the interview on the specified date and time.
- Candidates should produce one valid ID proof at the time of interview.
- Candidates should produce the No Objection Certificate from their present employer, if any.
- Candidates having marks issued in the form of CGPA/OGPA should produce an approved conversion table/formula at the time of reporting for interview, otherwise their candidature will not be considered.
- No TA/DA will be paid for appearing for the interview.
