The Genetic Psychology research group’s laboratory investigates stress-related illnesses, focusing on genetic, epigenetic, and psychoneuroendocrine markers. We work interdisciplinarily at the interface of psychology, biology, and medicine, offering an exciting environment in basic biomedical research.
The position involves supporting the execution and evaluation of molecular biological and biochemical experiments, as well as the processing and management of sample material. It also includes tasks in laboratory organization and quality assurance. A structured and meticulous work style is essential.
Your tasks:
- Conducting and supporting molecular, cell and biochemical experiments (e.g. qPCR, ELISA)
- Processing and analysis of tissue and liquid samples
- Genotyping and analysis of genetic and epigenetic markers
- Documentation, management and archiving of samples and data
- Participation in the organization of laboratory operations
- Creation and maintenance of laboratory and safety documentation
- Application of common software for data analysis and management
Your profile:
- Mandatory requirements:
- Completed training as a BTA, MTA or comparable qualification
- Practical experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, ELISA)
- Safe handling of DNA and RNA samples
- Structured, meticulous and independent work style
- Teamwork skills, commitment and organizational skills
Desirable qualifications:
- Experience in genotyping methods (e.g., HRM, TaqMan, RFLP)
- Knowledge of epigenetic analysis methods (e.g. bisulfite modification, pyrosequencing)
- Experience with telomere length determination and mtDNA quantification, cfDNA
- Routine in handling tissue samples from different origins
- Knowledge of laboratory organization, creation of SOPs, operating instructions and risk assessments
- Proficient use of MS Office and common analysis software

Employment is on a salaried basis and is governed by the collective agreement for public sector employees of the German states (TV-L). Upon fulfillment of the personal and collective agreement requirements, the position will be classified in pay group 9a TV-L.

The position is initially limited until 31.8.2030, with the prospect of extension/permanent employment and possible increase of working hours to up to 100%.
