The Small Animal and Pet Clinic at the Veterinary Hospital of the Free University of Berlin offers a 24-hour emergency service, 7 days a week. In addition, hospitalized animals require care and monitoring during evenings, nights, and weekends.
You will actively support our team during these times in the treatment of animals and the care of hospitalized patients. Diverse areas of responsibility ensure an interesting and varied range of tasks
Responsibilities:
– Assisting with examinations, treatments, documentation, and administration
– Observing the behavior and health of animals, recording vital signs, and administering medication
– Processing blood samples using laboratory equipment
– Supporting surgical preparation and follow-up, including cleanup during emergency services
– Assisting with the care of inpatients
– Cleaning and disinfection work
Hiring requirements:
Completed training as a veterinary assistant (m/f/d) or comparable expertise and experience
Desired:
– Willingness to work flexible shifts, including late shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays, according to agreed-upon schedules
– Familiarity with handling small animals and pets
– Basic knowledge of the care, feeding, and husbandry requirements of small animals and pets
– Excellent communication skills in German
– Reliability, diligence, and teamwork skills
– Interest in hospital hygiene
– High level of self-motivation
