Research Associate position – Pharmaceutical Biology

Subject to funding approval, a part-time position (50%) is available at the Institute of Pharmacy , Pharmaceutical Biology Research Group, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Greifswald, starting November 1, 2026, for a fixed term of one year .

The position is to be filled. Remuneration is based on pay grade 13 TV-L (Collective Agreement for Public Service Employees in the German States – Science). Subject to budgetary regulations, there is an option to extend the contract for a further 3 years.

Job tasks: 

• Scientific services in research
• Working on a third-party funded project “Sundew in urinary tract infections: Translation into clinical application”: Participation in a clinical study, ingredient analysis and isolation from sundew, metabolite measurement in human urine samples, ex-vivo microbiological experiments

Hiring requirement:

• Completed university degree in pharmacy, human biology, biochemistry or a comparable field
• At least a well-completed diploma or master’s thesis
• Basic knowledge of microbiological and analytical work

Desired: 

• Practical laboratory experience in phytochemistry or related analytics, basic knowledge of HPLC-MS
• Basic knowledge of the pharmacopoeias valid in Germany and the methods used therein.
• Basic knowledge of handling biological samples
• Good German skills (comparable to C1 level) and good English skills (comparable to B1 level) are desirable; if qualifications are lacking, a willingness to undertake short-term, on-the-job training is expected.
