Research Associate/PhD position – Peptide signaling for robust seed development

Your tasks

• Investigation of the function of SPI1 in seed development and germination of Arabidopsis thaliana
• Analysis of seed filling and storage protein formation under the influence of heat stress subtilisin-mediated processes, storage protein formation and phloem gating
• Phenotypic, developmental and molecular characterization of mutants (CRISPR/Cas) and complementation lines
• Microscopic analysis of nutrient flow in developing seeds
• RNA-seq analyses and functional validation of candidate genes
• Comparative studies in barley under heat stress
• Depending on the project progress: functional analysis of barley SPI homologs using CRISPR/Cas
• Processing the scientific tasks from the associated project
• Writing scientific publications

Your profile

• Completed university degree in biology, agricultural sciences, plant sciences, biochemistry or a related field
• Interest in plant research on development, molecular biology and stress physiology
• Initial experience in at least one of the following areas: plant molecular biology, microscopy, protein biochemistry or gene expression analysis
• Good English skills
• Independent and meticulous work ethic as well as teamwork skills
