The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany, has an opening for a Proteomics core facility leader (m/f/d).
Starting immediately or upon agreement.
The Proteomics Core Facility offers comprehensive protein and peptide analyses using state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS mass spectrometry. The core supports projects including, but not limited to, large-scale and comprehensive proteome profiling, including mapping of protein modifications, protein interaction mapping, low-input and chemical proteomics and is assisted by a dedicated technician. The core facility provides services from sample preparation to data analysis and interpretation. The Proteomics Core is currently seeking a new Head and welcomes applications from proteomics experts around the globe.
The position
- You will lead the day-to-day operations of the platform, including scheduling, quality control, processing and analyses across label-free, TMT, and SILAC-based proteomics and phosphoproteomics, and other MS-omics workflows
- You will co-develop and implement new workflows and analysis methods to increase throughput, quality, quantitation and reproducibility
- You maintain mass spectrometry instruments at the highest performance standards and manage service contracts as well as consumables.
- You advise on and support the procurement of future equipment and contribute to grant applications for infrastructure funding.
- You actively contribute to research projects, from experimental planning and data interpretation through to manuscript writing.
Your profile
- We are looking for a qualified team player with a strong interest in cutting-edge science and a service-oriented mindset.
Required:
- Expert (MSc or PhD) in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field – with a strong mass spectrometry track record
- Hands-on expertise with high-resolution LC-MS platforms, ideally including Bruker-based instruments
- Demonstrated ability to develop and optimize analytical methods from first principles
- Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers, scientists and principal investigators
Preferred:
- Strong interest in or experience with single-cell and/or spatial mass spectrometry technologies
- Experience running or co-running a core or research facility is a strong plus, not a prerequisite
- Fluent in English; German is an asset but not required
