Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – IIT (BHU) Varanasi, School of Biomedical Engineering
IIT (BHU) Varanasi is recruiting two JRFs for a DBT-funded project in AI, virtual reality, and speech biomedical engineering. This is a unique interdisciplinary position combining AI, clinical neuroscience, and speech technology.

Position Details:
- Vacancies: 2
- Emoluments: ₹37,000/month + 18% HRA (Years 1 & 2); ₹42,000/month + 18% HRA (Year 3)
- Appointment made annually and renewed based on performance
- Candidates will be encouraged to register for a PhD during their tenure; IIT (BHU) will provide financial support for up to 2 additional years for PhD completion, subject to admission criteria
Eligibility — Either of the following:
- B.E./B.Tech. with minimum 75% marks in Computer Science, IT, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics, Biomedical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology or allied disciplines, with a valid GATE/NET qualification (any year)
- M.E./M.Tech. with minimum 60% marks in any of the above disciplines
Desirable: Experience with Python, MATLAB, C#, Unity 3D, or Unreal Engine; knowledge of signal processing, machine learning/deep learning algorithms. Proficiency in Kannada language will be given preference due to the project’s English–Kannada speech-processing requirements.
Age Limit: Maximum 28 years. Relaxation of 5 years for Female/SC/ST/Physically Challenged; 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
Key Responsibilities: Work on human-machine interfaces using virtual reality, speech signal processing, biomedical signal processing, and AI. Opportunity to collaborate with national partners at NIMHANS, Bangalore.
