Junior Research Fellow position for a project entitled “Development of millet-derived speciality ingredients for smart protein products through novel approaches”

Junior Research Fellow – CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru (GAP-675)

CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru is recruiting one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) on a temporary contractual basis for a DST-funded project titled “Development of millet-derived speciality ingredients for smart protein products through novel approaches” (Project No. GAP-675). The project aims to develop speciality food ingredients from millets for use in high-protein food products — a timely and relevant area given the growing focus on sustainable and nutritious food systems.

• Stipend: ₹37,000/month + HRA (as per DST guidelines)
• Duration: Up to March 2027, extendable up to May 2028 subject to project requirement and fund availability
• Location: CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, Karnataka

Eligibility:

• Essential: M.Sc. in Food Science & Nutrition or Food & Nutrition, along with a valid national-level eligibility test qualification such as CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/LS), DBT, DST, or any national-level examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies
• Desirable: Experience in product development, micronutrient fortification, and animal experiments

Job Role: The selected candidate will be expected to work on product development, nutritional analysis, and in-vitro and in-vivo studies aligned with the project objectives.

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years as on 28 June 2026. Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Important Conditions:

• Candidates must have declared results in hand — those awaiting results or in their final semester are not eligible
• Candidates who have cumulatively served 6 or more years as Project Staff across any CSIR labs are not eligible
• The engagement carries no right to permanent employment or degree registration at CSIR or CSIR-CFTRI
• Performance will be reviewed periodically; the engagement can be terminated at any time without reason
