Assistant Professor with a Focus on Ruminant Nutrition

The Department of Animal Nutrition and Forage Production provides educational and scientific activities in the field of nutrition for livestock and other animals – including its impact on the composition and quality of animal products; animal health and metabolism; technology for the production, conservation, storage, and processing of feeds; feed consulting; animal nutrition in organic farming and in the field of forage and lawn management. The department offers courses in Czech and English at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral) of study at the Faculty of AgriSciences and selected subjects also at other faculties of the university. The department also conducts laboratory and experimental activities related to animal nutrition and health.

What will your job entail?

  • Teaching subjects focused on ruminant nutrition and conservation of forage feeds in both Czech and English
  • Supervising bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses
  • Preparing, conducting, and evaluating experiments in the field of ruminant nutrition
  • Active publishing in impact-factor journals
  • Preparing and solving national and international research projects
  • Creating applied research outcomes (e.g., methodologies, utility models, patents, verified technologies) and collaborating with the application sphere
  • Developing partnerships with practice and international partners

What do we expect from you?

  • Higher education at the doctoral level (Ph.D.) in animal nutrition, animal science, or a related field
  • Expert knowledge in ruminant nutrition and conservation of forage feeds
  • Excellent knowledge of Czech and English, ability to publish in English
  • Experience in teaching at a university level
  • Experience in leading or participating in research projects and grants
  • Publication activity in peer-reviewed scientific journals documented by outputs
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Independence in solving research tasks and ability to take responsibility for entrusted areas
  • Proficiency in PC use (MS Office, searching in specialized databases)
  • Proactive and responsible approach to work, attention to detail, and reliability
  • Organizational skills

What research experience do we require?

  • Experience in preparing and solving research projects
  • Experience in organizing and conducting experiments in the field of livestock nutrition
  • Professional practice in laboratory assessment of feeds and biological samples
  • Knowledge of statistical processing of experimental data
  • Experience in creating publication and applied research outcomes
