The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry comprises over 100 staff members working with state-of-the-art equipment in more than 780 m2 of laboratories. The department staff is responsible for undergraduate studies in molecular biology and biotechnology and postgraduate studies in biological chemistry. In seven independent research groups divided into 20 thematic laboratories, the department focuses on a wide range of key areas such as nanotechnology, bioanalytical chemistry, algae and plant biotechnology, and last but not least, experimental microbial and animal biochemistry and molecular biology.
What will your job entail?
- Independent and creative resolution of complex research and development tasks in the field of design and synthesis of nanomaterials using advanced techniques such as bioprinting to design systems for applications in drug delivery
- Working with biomaterials for biomedical applications
- Performing independent and/or team research in the relevant field
- Preparing grant applications
- Participating in scientific project resolution, collaborating with colleagues for biomedical applications
- Publishing activities
- Actively participating in scientific conferences and other professional meetings
What do we expect from you?
- Higher education at the doctoral level (Ph.D.) in the field of biomaterials chemistry or a related field
- At least 4 years of experience in materials chemistry – preparation and characterization of materials and biomaterials for biomedical applications (doctoral studies can be included)
- Experience with material characterization methods such as XRD, SEM, XPS, FTIR, rheological analysis, etc.
- Laboratory skills related to nanoparticle synthesis either by wet chemical synthesis or bioprinting
- Basic skills in working with bacteria and cell cultures, experience in operating light and confocal microscopes
- Excellent knowledge of Czech or English and the ability to publish in English
- Experience in preparing scientific publications
- Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office, searching in specialized databases)
- Proactive and responsible work approach, attention to detail and reliability
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Organizational skills
Number of vacancies: 1
Expected start: September 2026 or by agreement
Duration of the employment contract:fixed-term until December 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension
Working hours: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
