Tenure
For a period of one year, extendable for further period subject to continuation of the project and satisfactory performance of the incumbent.
The appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation on termination of the project.
The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment / absorption in Funding Agency or in IISER Pune.
The appointment will be governed by the terms and conditions of the funding agency particularly applicable to the said project.

Salary
Consolidated emoluments per month:

• Rs. 30,000/- + 30% House Rent Allowance
• Rs. 37,000/- + 30% House Rent Allowance (Applicant should have valid CSIR-NET (Life Sciences) / GATE (Life Sciences) / CSIR-JRF / DBT-JRF / any other National Level Test conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies OR equivalent scorecard.)

Age Limit
Not more than 35 years.
Age relaxation commensurate with educational qualification/s and / or experience/s of the applicant may be considered for candidates having qualification and experience higher than the advertised with the prior approval of the competent authority.
The prescribed date for determining the upper age limit, educational qualifications or experience shall be the last date for submitting applications.

Minimum Educational Qualification
M.Sc. / B. Tech in Life sciences / Biotechnology / Bioengineering with minimum 70% marks / equivalent grade.
Preferably.
Additional percentage cut-off will be applied during the screening process, if needed.
The prescribed educational qualification should have been obtained from recognized Universities / Institutions.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Candidates having following will be preferred:

• Experience in working with yeasts is essential. Please highlight the same in the application.
• Experience in genetics, molecular cell biology and biochemistry techniques is a must.
• Wet lab experience during Master’s thesis.
• Experience with Mass Spectrometry.
• Experience in projects related to DNA repair, epigenetics and chromosomal biology.
• Qualified national level exam (like: NET / GATE etc)

Job Responsibilities
Incumbent is expected to do following:

• Assist in ongoing experiments using yeast as a model to perform genetic screens and assays.
• Help establish the mammalian cell culturing system in the laboratory along with the PI.
• Conduct research investigating the molecular mechanisms of how cohesin complexes are loaded on the chromosomes in both yeast and human cancer cells.
