Project Associate – I position for a project titled- “Exploration, Collection and Characterization of Mizoram Chilli Germplasm Using Morphological, Biochemical and Molecular Approaches, and Screening for Anthracnose Resistance”

Position Summary

The Department of Biotechnology, Pachhunga University College (a constituent college of Mizoram University, NAAC A+), Aizawl, Mizoram, invites applications for one full-time Project Associate-I position under a research project funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India. The project is titled “Exploration, Collection and Characterization of Mizoram Chilli Germplasm Using Morphological, Biochemical and Molecular Approaches, and Screening for Anthracnose Resistance.”

The position is purely time-bound, with a project duration of three years. The salary is ₹33,000 + HRA (without NET) or ₹37,000 + HRA (with NET), as per government rules. The upper age limit is 30 years, relaxable by five years for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/Female candidates and by three years for OBC candidates.

The essential qualifications are an M.Sc. in Plant Pathology (Agri.), Botany, or Life Sciences-related disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks in the postgraduate examination; the candidate must also be fluent in the Mizo language. Desirable qualifications include research experience in plant pathogenic fungi isolation and culture, molecular techniques, and agricultural field experiments; willingness to travel across Mizoram; and NET (CSIR/UGC/ASRB) and GATE qualification in Life Science subjects.
