Tasks:
- Performing single cell combinatorial indexing (e.g. sci-RNA-seq, sci-ATAC-seq) experiments (no previous experience required)
- Molecular biology work (including RNA/DNA/protein extraction, PCR, electrophoresis)
- Tissue dissociations and sample preparation from different organismal material and predominantly plant material
- Programming and operation of automated liquid handling devices
- Advising and training of scientists and visitors in technologies and protocols
- General laboratory organization, such as: instrument maintenance, lab calendar, ordering, inventory, maintaining stocks and training members of collaborating labs
Essential skills required:
- Advanced degree from accredited university or technical school or multiple years of experience in molecular biology or a related discipline
- Very good practical experience and theoretical knowledge of cell and molecular biology methods
- Basic molecular and biochemical lab skills (PCR, qPCR, basic microscopy)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
- Independent work ethic and desire to learn new methods and protocols
- A willingness to learn basic computer programming
- Work well with people from various cultures
- Ability to speak and write fluently in English and in German
- Basic software skills (word-processing, Excel, powerpoint/keynote, cloud storage)
You might also have:
- Experience in standard genomics techniques (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, DNA-seq) and library preparation
- Background working with plants
- Experience in single cell genomics protocols
- Programming skills (R, Unix, Python, cluster computing)

The position is remunerated according to TV-L. The position is generally divisible.
