Your Responsibilities
- Independent research in the field of host-microbe and microbe-microbe interactions in Drosophila model within the research group of Dr. Igor Iatsenko
- Collaboration with established research groups and “Core Facilities” at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences
- Contribution to teaching in molecular biology and microbiology; co-supervision of students in the context of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses as well as dissertations
- Contribution to organizational and administrative tasks
Your Profile
- Completed doctoral/Ph.D. studies in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or related disciplines
- A strong publication track record in polymicrobial infections, host–microbe interactions, microbial ecology, microbial pathogenesis, microbiome research, or related fields
- Experience in the genetic engineering of bacteria (cloning, targeted and random mutagenesis, manipulation of genome-wide mutant bacterial libraries)
- Expertise in using the model organism Drosophila melanogaster to study host defense mechanisms or host-microbe interactions (desirable)
- Experience with microbiome, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, or other sequencing-based approaches (desirable)
- Didactic aptitude for participation in teaching in the field of Microbiology/Molecular Biology
- Independent, reliable, and self-responsible working style
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to present research and publish findings in international peer-reviewed journals
