Your tasks:

  • Performance of molecular biological techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blot
  • Independent cultivation and maintenance of primary and secondary cell cultures, as well as performance of cell-based assays.
  • Preparation of murine tissue, isolation of different tissue types and establishment of primary and organotypic cell cultures
  • Microinjection of plasmid and microRNA constructs into organotypic, primary or secondary cell cultures
  • Organization and coordination of mouse lines within the context of animal husbandry (e.g. breeding planning, inventory management, documentation)
  • Performing genotyping (sample collection, DNA isolation, PCR, evaluation) and routine handling of murine laboratory animals in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Careful documentation of experimental procedures and results using suitable software
  • Practical support for medical and scientific doctoral students as well as staff of the anatomical institute

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed training as a medical technical assistant/biological technical assistant (or comparable qualification)
  • Practical skills in the molecular biology laboratory
  • Solid practical experience in tissue preparation, (sterile) cell culture work, and handling primary and secondary cell cultures; ideally also organotypic section cultures.
  • Very careful, precise and reproducible working methods, especially with demanding techniques (e.g. microinjection, transfection, sample preparation)
  • Experience in cell-based assays and experimental documentation; proficient use of common laboratory and documentation software
  • Strong organizational skills, independent work ethic, and reliable scheduling and prioritization (e.g., in breeding/experiment planning)
  • Willingness to work with murine laboratory animals, including handling, sample collection and genotyping; FELASA certification is desirable or willingness to obtain it.
  • Teamwork skills, strong communication skills and enjoyment of providing practical support/training to students and doctoral candidates (also within the context of teaching courses)
  • Good German skills and basic English skills for working in a scientific environment
