Scientific Managing Director position in Molecular Biology

Your tasks:

  • In this multifaceted and responsible position, you will support the ZMBH management in strategic and operational tasks – from interacting with the ZMBH’s scientific and administrative departments and collaborating with other university institutions to supporting partnerships with external partners. You will conduct research on scientific projects and stakeholders, prepare position papers and texts for grant and award applications, and help plan the institute’s further development.
  • They manage the affairs of the ZMBH Directorate and are the first point of contact internally and externally for content-related questions and coordination needs with the ZMBH Directorate.
  • They promote the exchange of information within the center, with other university institutions and with cooperation partners, and form the interface to the faculties with which we work closely.
  • You will assume personnel responsibility and lead a team of motivated and qualified employees. You will support the institute’s committees and commissions, as well as our external scientific advisory board. You will prepare and implement decisions and participate in university committee work.
  • They participate in academic teaching.
  • They organize selection interviews for junior research group leader positions, scientific symposia, retreats and visitor programs for scientific guests.
  • They organize our public relations and communication across various communication channels.

Your profile:

  • They have successfully completed a university degree with a doctorate in the life sciences or related natural science fields.
  • They can quickly familiarize themselves with complex subject areas and have proven experience in the written and visual presentation of multifaceted content and relationships.
  • You are characterized by a confident demeanor and excellent written and spoken German skills. You also possess excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • They impress us with their willingness to perform, organizational skills, and a reliable, highly efficient, and independent work ethic.
  • They demonstrate a high degree of initiative and flexibility in terms of time.
  • We require strong social skills, teamwork, loyalty, and communication skills.

Remuneration is based on the TV-L collective agreement. The position is generally suitable for job sharing. If the legal requirements are met, civil servant status can be considered upon request (career path of Academic Advisor, subject to the teaching load regulations).
