The position, in accordance with Section 2 of the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG) and Section 72 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG), is a fixed-term appointment with the opportunity for further academic qualification at the Chair of Food Sciences, Institute of Nutritional Sciences, Department of Agricultural Sciences, Ecotrophology and Environmental Management. Remuneration will be based on pay grade 13 of the TV-H collective agreement, provided the necessary qualifications are met.

Provided the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term employment contract is not exceeded, they will generally be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension of up to a further 2 years is possible under the aforementioned conditions.

Your tasks at a glance

  • Own scientific and higher education didactics qualification, scientific services in research and teaching in accordance with § 72 HessHG
  • Taking on teaching duties in accordance with the teaching obligation regulations of the state of Hesse (participation in the modules Food Chemistry Practical Course and Nutritional Science Practical Course)
  • Development and use of sustainable methods and analytical systems (2LabsToGo-eco, high-performance thin-layer chromatography coupled with high-performance column chromatography, bioassays and high-resolution mass spectrometry) for the analysis of active substances, pollutants, contaminants or residues in food, consumer goods, cosmetics, and environmental samples.
  • Supervision of theses

Your qualifications and skills

  • Completed university degree, preferably in natural sciences or engineering (Diploma, State Examination or MSc)
  • Practical chemical-analytical knowledge (HPLC, HPTLC, HRMS) as well as physiological and biochemical knowledge (assays). Knowledge of programming (Python, C++) for instrument control, cloud-based image analysis with artificial intelligence, robotics, open-source technologies , etc. , is also desirable .
  • Good knowledge of the English language
  • Experience in the field of publishing scientific research results
