Project description
The researcher will be part of the Hackel research group, whose research focus is evolutionary plant biogeography. The researcher will analyze data on phylogeny, distribution and morphological characteristics of grass plants (Poaceae), with a focus on Madagascar.
Job duties
The position includes analytical tasks within:
- phylogenetic reconstruction
- macroevolutionary modeling (trait evolution, biogeography, divergence time estimation, diversification)
- multidimensional statistics and ordination
In addition, the researcher is expected to lead the work of writing at least one research article for publication based on the results.
Eligibility requirements
A researcher is hired primarily for research and must have completed a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree.
Assessment criteria
When appointing, special emphasis will be placed on scientific expertise, in particular:
- fluent English in speech and writing
- critical thinking and argumentation skills
- scientific writing skills demonstrated through at least one article published as lead author in a peer-reviewed journal
- experience working with R or a similar programming environment
- experience in compiling data from botanical databases
- experience with models for trait evolution or similar phylogenetic models.
About the employment
The position is full-time and is limited to a maximum of 12 months. Start date 2026-04-01 or as agreed.
