Researcher position in Computational Biology & Gene Regulation

Position Description

The selected candidate will contribute to the TFmeCan project funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society to further characterize the interplay between TF-DNA interactions and DNA methylation patterns in breast cancer cells and its impact on downstream deregulation of gene regulatory networks.

Key responsibilities

• Update our JASPAR and UniBind databases.
• Study the interplay between TF binding and DNA methylation through the analysis of single molecule footprinting data.
• Predict the downstream impact of differential methylation driven by TFs on gene regulatory networks in breast cancer cells.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field defended in the last 5 years.
• Previous post-doctoral experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with high-throughput sequencing data.
• Experience with TF-DNA interaction models and genomic interpretation tools.
• Knowledge of transcriptional regulation.
• Experience with the integration and analysis of multi-omics datasets.
• Experience with the analysis of single molecule footprinting data.
• Documented experience with leading the development of open-source and self-contained computational software.
• Track record of developing reproducible computational pipelines, preferably with workflow management systems like Snakemake and Nextflow.
• Ability to containerize applications using Docker or Singularity for better software management and reproducibility.
• At least one first author publication in an international peer-reviewed journal within the last 2 years.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Prior experience with the JASPAR or UniBind databases will be a selective advantage.

• Salary in position as Researcher, position code 1109 in salary range NOK from 595,000–720,000, depending on competence and experience. From the salary, 2 percent is deducted in statutory contributions to the State Pension Fund.
