The position, in accordance with Section 2 of the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG) and Section 72 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG), is a fixed-term appointment with the opportunity for further academic qualification at the Institute of Veterinary Pathology within the Department of Veterinary Medicine. Remuneration will be based on pay grade 13 of the TV-H collective agreement, provided the necessary qualifications are met.

Provided that the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term employment contract is not exceeded, they will generally be employed for an initial period of 1 year.

Pathology forms a crucial bridge between basic research and clinical disciplines. A sound education in this field opens up diverse career opportunities – from a scientific/academic career to positions in government agencies and private diagnostic laboratories, all the way to the pharmaceutical industry.

Your tasks at a glance

  • Own scientific and higher education didactics qualification, scientific services in research and teaching in accordance with § 72 HessHG
  • Assumption of teaching duties in accordance with the teaching load regulations of the state of Hesse
  • Participation in the diagnostics department of the institute

This training position offers the opportunity for a one-year advanced training in the field of morphological pathology of farm, domestic, wild, zoo, and laboratory animals, as well as molecular pathology, as a necessary foundation for a desired residency. Following this year, and provided the candidate demonstrates the appropriate aptitude, there is the prospect of continuing the training in preparation for the examination of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) (residency) and undertaking a research project within the framework of a doctoral dissertation.

Your qualifications and skills

We are looking for a highly motivated student with a strong interest in pathology and molecular research. The following qualifications are required:

  • Completed university degree in veterinary medicine
  • To promote a willingness to cooperate in advancing our team approach in diagnostics, teaching and research.
  • Fluent English skills and a minimum level of German skills (B2) are required for work in the Diagnostics department.
