Professorship position for Bioinformatics and Molecular Genetics

Description

The future holder of this position must be an internationally renowned personality with a competitive and internationally visible research programme in biological signalling research based on the development and application of innovative bioinformatic and molecular genetic methods. The professorship must address important biological and medically relevant questions at the molecular level. To this end, experimental and computer-based approaches will be combined and modern computer-based methods, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, will be used.

The holder of the position must contribute significantly to the Excellence Cluster CIBSS – Centre for Integrative Biological Signalling Studies, and in addition participate in other existing collaborative research programmes (e.g., SFB 1381) and actively engage in initiating new collaborative initiatives. The professorship serves as an important interface for interdisciplinary and interfaculty research within the university’s key research area “Signals of Life” and offers a wide range of opportunities for integration into a broad cooperation network. The candidate’s research direction has to be evidenced by successful acquisition of third-party funding. In teaching, the professorship is involved in courses of the Bachelor and Master of Science programs in Biology, particularly in the areas of genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics and developmental biology. Parts of the teaching are conducted in German.

In all other respects, the conditions for appointment according to § 47 Landeshochschulgesetz apply.
