Postdoctoral Researcher position – the molecular basis of epithelial transport and the epithelial barrier with a focus on the gastrointestinal tract

The Institute of Veterinary Physiology is dedicated to the identification and description of life processes in veterinary-relevant animal species through research and teaching. Research focuses particularly on the molecular basis of epithelial transport and the epithelial barrier (with a focus on the gastrointestinal tract) as well as metabolism in farm animals.

Responsibilities:
• Conception and execution of research projects in the field of physiology, including the acquisition of third-party funding and publication of research results
• Technical and administrative planning and execution of animal experiments, as well as veterinary care of animal experiments and laboratory animals
• Conception, implementation, and management of courses in physiology
• Organization and scientific support of conferences, guest lectures, and journal clubs
• This position serves the individual’s own scientific development (specialist veterinarian)
• Participation in academic self-governance

Requirements for employment:
Completed academic university degree and doctorate in veterinary medicine, as well as license to practice as a veterinarian.

Desired qualifications:
• Experience in laboratory animal science and in managing a laboratory with a scientific focus
• Outstanding knowledge and practical experience in the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract in monogastric farm animals
• Methodological knowledge and experience in electrophysiology and transport physiology, molecular biology, cell culture, and stem cell research
• Expertise in animal experimentation law
• Certified didactic training for university teaching
• Very good knowledge of English
