This position has an initial appointment of 1 year, wiht the possibility of extension for another 1-2 years.
Location – This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada). We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in bioanalytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, proteomics, or molecular biology, and interests in translational proteomics. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and translational research program in diagnostics of infectious diseases and cancer, biomarker discovery, cancer proteomics, and antibody sequencing (http://drabovich.ca). These research initiatives are supported by the PRAIRIE HUB for pandemic preparedness, the Canada Biomedical Research Fund (CBRF), and the Cancer Research Society.
Protein mass spectrometry is our key analytical platform, supported by cutting-edge mass spectrometry instrumentation available in our Division (Bruker timsOMNI, timsTOF Ultra 2, Sciex QTRAP 6500+, and Thermo Orbitrap Elite). We also use a range of molecular biology and bioanalytical chemistry tools, cell culture models, and bioinformatics approaches to investigate protein function in cells and biological samples. Our translational proteomics studies include analysis of canonical and mutant proteins in single cells, FFPE tissues, proximal fluids, and blood plasma samples of patients with infectious diseases and cancer.

Responsibilities
- Wet-lab experimental research (in-person, full time)
- Experimental design, data acquisition, data analysis, and presentation of results
- Preparation of research manuscripts
- Assistance with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD degree completed within the past five years, have first-author publications, and have a strong background in bioanalytical chemistry or molecular biology. Prior expertise in proteomics, mass spectrometry, cancer research, or immunology will be an advantage. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
