Your Responsibilities
- Independent research on molecular mechanisms of bacterial-host interactions in human and animal diseases; including animal (murine) infection models
- Cooperation with established research groups at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences as well as the field of excellence “BioHealth”
- Contribute to teaching in molecular biology and microbiology (Bachelor, Master)
- Co-supervision of students in the context of master’s theses and dissertations
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures
Your Profile
- Completed doctorate/PhD in the area Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken German and English
- Didactic competence to participate in teaching molecular biology, bacterial genetics and microbiology on university undergraduate and graduate levels
- Excellent publication record (commensurate with academic age) in international journals in the fields of infection biology and molecular microbiology research, preferably relevant to gastrointestinal disease
- Technical expertise in cultivating and genetically manipulating bacterial pathogens (biosafety level 2) as well as bacterial genetics
- Technical expertise in basic molecular biology methods, cell culture and microscopy
- Practical experience in planning and performing experiments in murine infection models (including certificate Felasa B or equivalent)
- Enjoyment of scientific work and working with students
- Independent, self-reliant and goal-oriented work style
- Reliability, organizational skills and teamwork
