The Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine (IMTM) is a leading biomedical research center at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Health Sciences of Palacký University in Olomouc. IMTM combines basic and translational research with a solid technological infrastructure and international partnerships. Its goal is to better understand human diseases, especially cancer and other major diseases, and to help develop future diagnostics and therapies. More info: www.imtm.cz Laboratory description There is a vacancy in the ERC-CZ-funded junior group for proteotoxic stress research, which is part of the Laboratory of Genomic Integrity. The group investigates how cells cope with damaged or aggregated proteins, with a focus on proteotoxic stress, proteostasis, the ubiquitin-proteasomal system, molecular chaperones and unique vulnerabilities of cancer cells. The project combines cell biology, microscopy, molecular biology, biochemistry and translational biomedicine.

Job description

• design and perform independent research in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and microscopy, including advanced live-cell and fluorescence imaging approaches
• analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts, publish original findings, and present results at meetings and conferences
• contribute to student supervision and to the day-to-day scientific activities of the group

Qualification requirements

• PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, medical sciences, or a related field
• Proven hands-on experience in cell culture, microscopy, biochemistry, and molecular biology 
• Strong publication record for your career stage 
• Good communication and writing skills in English / Fluent in English (speaking and writing) 
• Ability to work independently in science, including publishing 
• Proactive, motivated, and open to further learning 
• Leadership and management skills
• International experience is a plus
