Laboratory Technician position – molecular biology

The Department of Molecular Biosciences, Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) is one of the largest departments at the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University with more than 30 research groups and approximately 180 employees. The Department of Molecular Biosciences, Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) conducts experimental basic research in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immune biology.

Job duties

This position as a laboratory technician is available in the laboratory under the leadership of Prof. Martin Jastroch. Main responsibilities are genotyping of various zebrafish models and basic molecular biology methods such as genotyping, tissue processing, isolation of RNA and protein as well as qPCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, cell culture and handling of zebrafish. 

Qualifications

We are looking for a person with practical and theoretical knowledge in molecular biology (laboratory assistant, Bachelor’s, Master’s degree). High motivation, ability to work independently and in a team and good knowledge of English are required. FELASA certificate and experience in zebrafish work are meritorious. 

About the employment

The position is full-time and limited to 6 months. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Entry is 2026-09-01 or as agreed.
