Collection Manager – Research Microorganisms

  • DescriptionAs part of a newly created position, we are seeking an experienced Collection Manager to join our dedicated team.

    Within this team, we manage, enhance, and characterize our microorganism collection to select the best microorganisms for industrial biotechnology applications.

    As Collection Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:

    Define and implement the development and management strategy for the microorganism collection, in line with the department’s vision and objectives;
    supervise and coordinate the scientific, technical, and operational teams involved in the collection;
    manage a team of research technicians;
    ensure the quality, reliability, and completeness of the collection by implementing rigorous procedures;
    identify and leverage new opportunities to enrich and enhance the collection, in line with the needs of the group’s various activities;
    establish and monitor KPIs to measure the achievement of objectives;
    and represent the collection to internal and external stakeholders.
    Manage and optimize the resources, budget and people allocated to the collection.

  • Profile
    A Master’s degree or PhD in microbiology, biology, or a related field.
    5 to 10 years of proven experience managing a microorganism collection or a microbiological research laboratory.
    Excellent scientific and technical knowledge in microbiology.
    Proven team and project management skills.
    A sense of innovation and the ability to anticipate needs.
    Professional English (written and spoken) is required (minimum B2 / ideally C1).
    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
    Proficiency in performance management and monitoring tools.
    Extensive experience with various microorganisms (yeasts, bacteria, fungi) is an asset.
