Offer Description
The team “Cell Biology of the neurons” is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher. The overarching goal of the project is to investigate how neuromodulation alters presynaptic exocytosis of synaptic vesicles (SVs) and dense-core vesicles (DCVs). To achieve this, we will combine in vivo approaches in C. elegans with advanced single-molecule imaging techniques that we developed in our laboratory at the C. elegans neuromuscular junction. Together, these complementary strategies will enable the molecular dissection of presynaptic modulatory mechanisms directly in vivo. The molecular candidates under investigation are guided by previous findings from our laboratory.
The host group has extensive expertise in genetics, gene editing and transgenesis; genomics and transcriptomics; advanced cell biology imaging; as well as behavioral and aging studies. (Lobo, T. et al, Stratigi, E. et al, Laurent, P. et al, Haque, R. et al, Razzauti, A. et al, Martineau et al, Lorenzo, R. et al). In addition, we maintain strong collaborations for proteomics and specialized imaging approaches.
Candidates must have a PhD degree (obtained or expected) in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, Developmental Biology, Biophysics or related. The recruited postdoc will have a strong interest in cell biology and neurobiology. Experience in microscopy, cell biology and molecular biology techniques is a plus. Experience in working with C. elegans is a plus, but not required.
Working language will be English.
The researcher joining our team will be affiliated with the ULB, located in the heart of Europe (Brussels, Belgium), the ULB neuroscience institute (UNI) is a department comprising of 24 research groups across campuses and 240 scientists with interests ranging from neurodevelopment to circuit neuroscience in C. elegans, Zebrafish, Mouse and Human.
