Website Technical University of Denmark
A postdoctoral position is available in the Section of Experimental and Translational Immunology (xTI), Department of Health Technology (DTU Health Tech), at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
The position focuses on the development of nanomaterial-based biosensors for ultra-early cancer detection, alongside the development of advanced nanoformulation-based cancer therapeutic strategies. The project integrates nanomaterials engineering, biological validation, and translational approaches to address critical challenges in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The present project will be conducted within a highly interdisciplinary research environment, combining expertise in nanotechnology, cancer biology, immunology, and translational research. The postdoctoral researcher will work with state-of-the-art experimental platforms and contribute to the development of novel diagnostic biosensors and cancer-focused nanomaterial platforms with strong potential for clinical impact.
Responsibilities
Your overall focus will be the development and evaluation of nanomaterial-based platforms for cancer therapeutics and diagnostic biosensors, with validation across in vitro, 3D, and in vivo disease models.
Your primary tasks will be to:
- Development and optimisation of nanoformulations for cancer therapeutics
- Physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials using FTIR, DLS, TGA, sp-ICPMS, TEM, SEM, etc.
- Evaluation of drug loading efficiency, release profiles, and release kinetics under relevant conditions
- Design, functionalization, and validation of nanomaterial-based biosensors for lung cancer diagnosis
- Biomarker attachment, surface chemistry optimisation, and biosensor signal readout analysis
- In vitro biological evaluation using mammalian cell culture systems, including 2D cultures, 3D spheroids, organoid-based models and in vivo cancer and infection models
- Integration and analysis of transcriptomics and proteomics datasets
- Establishment and maintenance of standardised experimental pipelines
- Data analysis, manuscript preparation, and project reporting
Required Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent) in nanotechnology, biomedical sciences, cancer biology, or a related field
- Proven experience in nanoformulation design and characterization, and application in in vitro and in vivo models
- Hands-on experience in designing nanomaterial-based biosensors, including biomarker conjugation and detection strategies for ultra-early cancer detection
- Strong background in in vitro mammalian cell culture, including 3D spheroids and organoid models, and in vivo cancer and/or infection models
- Ability to analyse and interpret transcriptomics and proteomics data
- Solid understanding of translational cancer nanomedicine and diagnostic platforms
