Scholarship holder

Requirements :

A candidate entering the competition for the position of scholarship holder should meet the following conditions:

1. Is a student of first-cycle, second-cycle, or long-cycle master’s degree programs at universities in Poland, or is a doctoral student at a doctoral school – as of the date of commencement of work on the project, i.e., November 1, 2026.
2. Has experience in conducting scientific research in the field of biotechnology and microbiology, confirmed by scientific publications.
3. Is familiar with methods of statistical data analysis.
4. Is predisposed to conducting experimental research.
5. Is motivated to publish research results in high-quality scientific journals.
6. Has a command of English at a level necessary for scientific work.

Description of tasks :

The fellow will be responsible for the production of biosurfactants using statistical experimental design, their purification, and physicochemical analysis. This individual will also be responsible for research on the adsorption behavior of biosurfactants and metallothioneins on hydrogels using molecular dynamics methods. Furthermore, the fellow will be involved in studies of the adsorption of heavy metal ions and bisphenols from aqueous solutions using modified hydrogels.

In addition, the fellow’s standard duties will include collecting data and creating databases necessary for the project, analyzing scientific literature (in Polish and foreign languages) related to the project’s topic, performing organizational work related to the project, participating in the preparation of scientific reports and publications, and participating in national and international scientific conferences.

Employment conditions :

The deadline for submitting documents is October 26, 2026, 11:59 PM.
The competition results will be announced by October 27, 2026.
The scholarship is awarded from November 1, 2026, for a period of 10 months in the amount of PLN 2,500.00 per month.

Candidates are asked to send the following documents to the project manager’s email address: tomasz.janek@upwr.edu.pl with “OPUS 26 – scholarship” in the title:

1. CV;
2. Cover letter describing competences required for the project;
3. Copy of scientific publication or master’s thesis;
4. In the first stage of recruitment, the candidates’ achievements will be assessed based on the submitted documents. In the second stage, the committee may invite for an interview the people who best meet the above-mentioned requirements.
