The Opportunity

As a Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics, you will play an important role in shaping the next generation of nutrition and dietetics professionals through excellence in teaching, scholarship and industry engagement. You will contribute to the design and delivery of contemporary, evidence-informed curricula, create engaging and inclusive learning experiences, and support students to develop the knowledge, skills and professional capabilities needed to thrive across clinical, community and public health settings.

Working within a collaborative and research-active academic environment, you will further develop your research profile in nutrition and dietetics through high-quality scholarly outputs, collaborative research, grant activity and research supervision. You will also build meaningful partnerships with industry, healthcare and community stakeholders that strengthen teaching, research and the University’s impact, while contributing to a collegial and innovative culture within the School of Health.

You will:

  • deliver high-quality, evidence-based teaching and contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of nutrition and dietetics curricula that support student engagement and success;
  • contribute to an emerging research profile through scholarly activities, publications, research collaborations, and participation in grant opportunities and student supervision; and
  • build and maintain productive relationships with industry, healthcare, and community partners while contributing to academic administration, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a positive, collegial culture within the School.

About you

You are an enthusiastic and collaborative academic with expertise in nutrition and dietetics and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and engagement. Passionate about preparing the next generation of nutrition and dietetics professionals, you create inclusive, evidence-informed learning experiences that inspire student success and support graduate readiness.

You are building an established research profile through scholarly publications, collaborative research and meaningful partnerships, while maintaining strong connections with the profession and broader community. Recognised for your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you thrive in collaborative environments, contribute positively to academic life, and are committed to advancing the discipline through education, research and service.

You will possess:

  • a doctoral qualification, or near completion of a doctoral qualification, in a relevant field, or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Recognised as an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) or Advanced APD with Dietitians Australia;
  • demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and the capacity to design, develop, and deliver engaging higher education curricula;
  • evidence of an emerging research profile, including publications, participation in research teams, and a commitment to scholarly activity;
  • experience in, or demonstrated capacity for, student supervision and academic administration, such as course coordination; and
  • strong interpersonal and collegial skills, with active engagement in relevant professional, industry, or community networks and a commitment to contributing positively to the academic environment.

Desirable

  • postgraduate qualifications in higher education and/or experience in contemporary learning and teaching practices in higher education; and
  • experience developing and/or delivering curricula aligned with the National Competency Standards for Dietitians in Australia within a professionally accredited dietetic education program.
