Position Description
The Department of Life Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (Deemed to be University), Delhi-NCR, invites applications for a regular faculty appointment at the rank of Professor. We seek an accomplished scholar and academic leader with an internationally visible research program, a sustained record of teaching and mentoring, and the ability to strengthen interdisciplinary research and academic programs.
Applications are welcome across the biological sciences/computational biology, and those whose work complements or bridges the Department’s established research themes.

Eligibility
- Candidates should have at least 12 years of academic or research experience at the Assistant Professor and/or Associate Professor level in premier research institutions and universities of comparable standing. Candidates already holding the position of Professor will be considered to have fulfilled this requirement. Candidates with 4–5 years of experience as Associate Professor may also apply and will be considered on an exceptional basis provided they fulfil all other conditions.
- A strong and consistent record of publications in reputed, peer-reviewed journals is essential.
- Demonstrated success in securing extramural funding (national or international) is required.
- Evidence of supervising and graduating at least five Ph.D. students is necessary.
- Preferably, the candidate should have experience in developing new courses and academic programs within the department.
The selected candidate(s) will be expected to develop and sustain a dynamic and innovative research program. Qualified candidates must also exhibit a strong potential to attract external funding for their research and demonstrate excellence in teaching, advising, mentoring and supervising students at all levels. It is expected that the candidate will foster collaborations within the department and across schools in the university and actively contribute to developing research in emerging and cutting-edge areas of biological sciences/computational biology. Currently, we are welcoming applicants with proven expertise in all relevant areas of Biological Sciences/Computational Biology (with special focus on AI/ML). Research Infrastructure: The laboratories of the Department of Life Sciences and School of Natural Sciences are well equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment, including Next Generation Sequencing facilities, Flow Cytometers and Sorters, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope, Spinning Disk Microscope, Real-Time PCR, Advanced Fluorescence Microscopes including live imaging, BSL-2 culture facilities for mammalian cells, parasites and viruses, and a central instrumentation facility comprising LC-MS, XRD, AFM, CD Spectrophotometer, MST, Raman Spectrometer, Luminometer, Ultracentrifuge, etc. A state-of-the-art SPF animal facility called the Center for Integrative and Translational Research (CITRES) was inaugurated in January 2024. This facility houses multiple animal models and is equipped for generating genome-edited animals. The computational facilities include a high-performance IBM cluster (“Magus”) consisting of 57 compute nodes (8,064 cores) with a total capacity of 320 TFlops theoretical peak performance. Additionally, several standalone Linux workstations are used for teaching and research. Several Bioinformatics and Cheminformatics software packages are also available. The Center for Excellence in Epigenetics is part of the Department of Life Sciences and houses state-of-the-art facilities for epigenetics, genomics, proteomics, and drug discovery studies.
