Postdoctoral positions (cellular) biochemistry and protein engineering

Website Bielefeld University

Your tasks:

  • As postdoctoral researcher in Area III, you will contribute to the design of highly stable formulations, preventing phase changes while maintaining the functionality of active molecules, such as chemical entities or biomolecules. Drawing on the remarkable influence of the liquid environment, RESOLV aims to improve the applicability of hydrophobic pharmaceuticals by crafting customized mesophase structures to overcome the limitations of low solubility and bioavailability. Further major goals are to uncover the mechanism by which enzymes become more active in the specific solvent environment of liquid condensates induced by liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) and to map local hydration changes and LLPS even in living cells.

Your profile:

  • You hold a top-grade full university degree with a doctorate in Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or comparable subjects.
  • You are fascinated by the interdisciplinary research field Solvation Science.
  • • You have experience in one of the following disciplines: chemical engineering (thermodynamic measurements and modelling, formulation design), (bio-) physical chemistry, (time-resolved) spectroscopic techniques, theoretical chemistry (simulations or electronic structure calculations), as well as (cellular) biochemistry and protein engineering.
  • You have a solid knowledge of English in a professional environment (at least level B2, oral and written).

What we offer:

  • You will be embedded in a high-profile research environment.
  • You are integrated in the International Faculty Solvation Science.
  • You will benefit from personal development possibilities, the entrepreneurial attitude within RESOLV and a broad spectrum of lectures as well as transferable skills courses.
  • You are provided with funding for visiting international conferences.

Additional information:
