The Chair of Functional Beverage Technology (Breselge Lab) at the TUM School of Life Sciences, Campus Weihenstephan, is a research group focusing on functional beverages. The core of this position lies in the analytical characterization of fermentation metabolites, particularly sugars, organic acids, and related compounds, using HPLC- and GC-based as well as complementary analytical methods.
Requirement
• Completed vocational training as a chemical laboratory assistant, chemical laboratory assistant, biological laboratory assistant, biological laboratory assistant or comparable qualification; alternatively, a completed university degree (B.Sc.) in chemistry, food chemistry, biotechnology or a related field.
Practical experience in handling HPLC or GC systems
Experience in method development and validation is desirable.
• Very good knowledge of sample preparation, calibration and quality assurance
• Experience working in a research laboratory (documentation, SOPs, etc.)
• Reliable, structured and responsible work ethic
Teamwork skills and the ability to work independently
Good English skills; German skills are an advantage.
Tasks
Independent operation and maintenance of HPLC and/or GC analysis systems
Development, optimization and documentation of analytical methods for complex fermentation and beverage matrices
Sample preparation, measurement, quality assurance and evaluation of analytical data
• Establishment and maintenance of SOPs and analytical workflows
• Training and instruction of students and research staff in analytical techniques
• Support for student internships and research projects
• Organization of laboratory operations (safety, documentation, etc.)

• Employment remuneration according to the collective agreement for the public service of the Länder (TV-L).
