The Faculty of Biology is seeking to fill a position at the Chair of Biology Didactics starting on July 1, 2026.

Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/d)

(provided the personal requirements are met, pay grade E 13 TV-L)

The position is to be filled until September 30, 2028, with the option of extension (employment duration in accordance with the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act). Reconciling family and career is highly valued. The position is also generally suitable for part-time employment. Please indicate this preference in your application.

Responsibilities: Academic teaching in the subject-specific didactics program for teacher training is to be carried out in accordance with HSDAVO (the language of instruction is German). Participation in examinations and the supervision of qualification projects is also required, as is the assumption of tasks related to academic self-governance. Furthermore, collaboration in research areas of subject-specific didactics at the location, which focuses, among other things, on the professionalization of teachers and the promotion of competence in scientific inquiry, as well as the use of animals in biology lessons, is desirable. A willingness to acquire external funding and to conduct independent subject-specific didactics research linked to the research focus of the location is also expressly desired.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree, preferably in teaching (state examination or comparable qualification) in biology.
  • a doctorate of at least very good quality in the field of biology didactics (or related fields, e.g. subject-related empirical teaching and learning research, empirical educational research)
  • very good German and English skills
  • Flexibility, mobility and willingness to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Interests or experience in the zoological (e.g., behavioral biology, animal husbandry and care) and/or botanical fields (e.g., crop plants) and/or with digital technologies are advantageous and should be incorporated into the development and coordination of teaching and learning laboratory facilities at the Chair of Biology Didactics.
  • Desired are:
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding and coordinating projects
  • Proof of knowledge in the field of empirical subject-specific didactics research and/or educational and teaching-learning research through a corresponding publication record.
  • extensive knowledge of the use of Office/iOS and analysis software
  • Experience in university teaching and/or school experience
