The Department of Human Genetics is active in the field of modern human genetics research and diagnostics, with a particular focus on NGS-based methods and large-scale genome analyses. The department has a high-performance automation infrastructure, including liquid handling systems from Hamilton and MGI Smart 8, which is continuously being expanded.
Your tasks:
- Development, implementation, optimization and automation of genomic workflows
- Operation, validation and troubleshooting of liquid handling robots (e.g. Hamilton, MGI Smart 8)
- Development and validation of new genomic protocols for research and diagnostics
- Performing fault analyses as well as routine maintenance and quality assurance of laboratory equipment
- Creation and maintenance of protocols (SOPs), validation documentation and quality assurance records in accordance with DAkkS.
- Support in implementing LIMs workflows for existing and new protocols
- Training of junior staff and students
- Evaluation of new methods and technologies and support for their implementation in the Core Facility
Your profile:
- Master’s degree in life sciences, biology, biotechnology, bioengineering or related fields
- Demonstrable practical experience in laboratory automation
- Demonstrable practical experience in the development and validation of NGS-based methods
- Demonstrable practical experience in DNA/RNA extraction from various tissues
- Extensive experience with NGS workflows and/or high-throughput genomic assays
- At least 2 years of professional experience in a regulated genomics laboratory (ISO, DAkkS)
- Experience with LIMS-based tracking
- Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving competence
- Independent, reliable and team-oriented work ethic
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills

Employment is on a salaried basis and is governed by the collective agreement for public sector employees of the German states (TV-L). Upon fulfillment of the personal and collective agreement requirements, the position will be classified in pay group 13 TV-L.
