Scientific Research Associate position in Agroforestry for Increasing Resilience in Organic Farming – Practice-Research Network (ReAgt4Oeko)”

Website University of Hohenheim

The university is seeking a Research Associate (m/f/d) for a fixed term until 31.3.2031 within the framework of the project “Agroforestry for increasing resilience in organic farming – Practice-Research Network” (ReAgt4Oeko), PhD holder, E13 TV-L, part-time 50%, starting on 01.6.2026.

On a uniquely beautiful campus, the University of Hohenheim, a profile university, unites the three faculties of Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Economics and Social Sciences, with approximately 9,000 students enrolled. Our green campus, with its short distances between buildings, fosters collaboration and creates a vibrant and inspiring environment for research, teaching, and work for our roughly 2,000 employees. We are shaping a sustainable future and developing solutions for the societal challenges of our time. Here, ambitious minds find a community in which they can grow and reach their full potential.

The Centre for Organic Farming at the University of Hohenheim (Faculty of Agricultural Sciences) pools research activities in organic farming and is networked with other research institutions at home and abroad in order to implement new, inter- and transdisciplinary research ideas in the field of tension between organic farming, societal transformation and bioeconomy.

The practice-oriented research network “ReAgt4Oeko” aims to fully utilize the resilience potential of agroforestry for organic farming. Within a network of approximately 20 farms with established agroforestry systems in three regions (Northeast, Central, and South), the network will investigate how agroforestry can enhance the ecological and economic resilience of organic farming to climate change. In crop production, the focus is on improving soil and plant health and its impact on yield. Scientific analyses are combined with experiential knowledge and practice-oriented monitoring. All information is integrated with data from animal husbandry, economics, and advisory services, analyzed, and incorporated into a regional, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange. The network is being established using impact-oriented, participatory methods and, through close collaboration with approximately 20 associated partners from networks, research, advisory services, and knowledge transfer, is designed for long-term sustainability from the outset.
